Extracurricular Activities
K-Clemson
From my first semester at Clemson to graduation, I was a member of K-Clemson, a K-Pop social and dance club. They hold social events every month centered around K-Pop music and along with practices where they learn choreography and perform K-Pop routines in a showcase each semester. I acted as a co-dance captain of the club beginning the spring of 2023, where I led dance practices, taught choreography, created formations, and gave dance critiques to members. In my sophomore and junior years, I was also the club secretary, managing club documents, recording attendance, and taking notes on meetings. Through this club, I built a tight-knit community of people with similar interests and improved my teaching and leadership skills.
Clemson Dancers
Clemson Dancers is a student-led club that holds weekly dance classes in a wide variety of styles and a showcase at the end of each academic year. I was a member of this club beginning in my first semester at Clemson and it became an essential form of exercise, self-expression, and community for me ever since. As someone who grew up dancing several hours a week, being able to continue taking classes and performing in college was important to me, and this club provided me with that plus a wonderful, supportive community of dancers. I also co-taught a tap class with another dancer in my sophomore year, where we had the chance to teach weekly classes and choreograph a dance for showcase in the spring.
Anthropology Club
I joined Anthropology Club in my sophomore year at Clemson, and while I was not as active here as I was in K-Clemson or Clemson Dancers, I loved attending meetings, spending time with other anthropology students, and participating in activities. Whether it involved studying skeletal remains, reconstructing broken artifacts, or talking with the department's professors and learning about their research, I always had a great experience. The environment was very welcoming and I enjoyed getting to learn about new topics and practice skills.
Dance Teaching & Assisting
From the ages of three to eighteen, I danced at Burns Dance Studio in Aiken, South Carolina, where I was also on the competition team for ten years. There, I began assisting pre-school and tap classes in middle school along with tap choreography sessions and continued until I graduated high school. As an alumni, I've had the opportunity to teach tap and hip hop classes as well as choreograph competitive tap routines, further developing my teaching and choreographic abilities. I also worked with Platinum National Dance Competition as an assistant for two years in all styles of dance, and I have continued working with them doing production and photography.
